This is a little tribute to my fellow neurodivergents who experienced tertiary education ane the mayhem that ensues a few sleepless nights before submission.
After a blissful fortnight of rumination and procrastination, I’d suddenly realise a project deadline was looming. I (and many others) are living proof that it is possible to survive without sleep for at least 72 hours on 2 minute noodles, a steady stream of stomach churning instant coffee and paint fumes alone. In the name of efficiency, I once succumbed to the temptation to combine noodles and coffee in one cup - definitely not for the faint hearted…
What I like to call ‘the twitching hour’ generally occurs 6 to 4 hours before presentation, where the caffeine jitters kick in and the mind runs amok. Fortunately (most of the time) I would somehow manage to salvage the situation once the panic and caffeine tremors subsided. Whew… only to repeat the same mistake with the following submission.
